SERVICE ACTIVITY

Service Activity that Made a Contribution to the Community

Student involvment within the Middle Tennessee State University community is highly regarded within our discipline. Many of my college courses have required group projects where my classmates and I are challenged to enhance our campus for the better, and present our ideas to the appropriate audiences in order for the new changes to take place. For our Innovation and Communication Class, our group presented the need for new campus directories at Middle Tennessee State University. The following information are a few exerpts of what was in the notebook we handed out to our guests who came to listen to our proposal for the new campus maps. Our research and design has implemented a proposed new addition to our univeristy in order to serve new students and guests with the most resourceful tools to explore our beautiful campus here at Middle Tennessee State University. Currently, the university budget is being reviewed in order to establish these new directories on campus.

At the end of our report, we had to submit our process of organizing our innovative idea to our professor, and moreso, how we planned to ensure that our innovative service project proposal would follow through at our university.

CONCLUSION
We are extremely grateful that you took the time to come hear our proposal today. After evaluating the need for new student directories, understanding the process of renovating the current directories, and researching the costs of new directories, we hope you have received enough information to help us succeed in changing the MTSU directories here on campus.

Again, we truly appreciate your time. We hope that you will join us in implementing new directories for the purpose of serving our MTSU community!

Outline the process your group will use/used to:

Identify the need for change

Fully analyze the proposed change impact

and new students. Not only that, it will drastically beautify our campus. For example, we will provide visuals of various southeast university campus directories that are extremely new and up to date. We will place these pictures next to our current directories, and it is obvious we pale in comparison. Another important tactic is to identify all costs involved in this process, and explain to our indicated audience why it will be worth the money to invest in new structured directories, and why it is essential to place them in new locations.

Identify stakeholders

Our current stakeholders are as follows:

Patti Miller Assistant VP for Campus Planning

Concrete Management Department Director

Wallace James Edwards Director of Construction Administration

Gretchen Jenkins VP of SGA

Dr. Bob Glenn

Brian Dell

Convince the stakeholders to listen to your proposal and accept the need and viability of the change.

We plan to do this in a very organized, persuasive manner with our data, visual aids, and outstanding confidence.

The impact of creating new directories truly will decrease confusion among visitors

To properly identify the need for change, we will present data graphs from surveys taken by University 1010 freshman. This research concretely confirms that there is confusion among those who are new to the campus. Therefore, more maps need to be placed in high traffic areas on campus. We are a growing collegiate community; therefore we have a responsibility to accommodate more people with the resources they need to help them navigate their way around campus.

Welcome to the Campus Directory Presentation
