As a student nurse, we act as the primary nurse for patients.  In doing this we are required to become advocates for our.  We must be able to bring together many medical disciplines into one plan of care for each patient. This could mean unifying the orders from the dietician, various medical doctors, the pharmacist, and the laboratory into one plan.  As the primary nurse we must lead this team to be able to provide the best possible care we are able.  It is important to obtain these leadership skills because without them patient care could suffer.
