SOC 101

Sociology 101 is an introduction to Sociology. It briefly over views the fundamentals of society and how people interact with it. Sociology is based on theories, social patterns, and statistics. You will learn the three theories of sociology in which sociologists use to study society: conflict theory, structural functional theory, and symbolic interaction theory. In my experience, Sociology is a very interesting study. I have had a difficult time doing well on the essays and exams but I have really enjoyed learning about society and how it works!

I received a perfect score on the last essay I wrote in my SOC 101 class. My professor Mrs. Donovan assigned an essay on the quote “I am the sculptor and I am the clay”, and asked us to write about socialization and how the quote relates to our lives and how we have grown up in society. I wrote a well-developed essay explaining when I have been the sculptor of my life and how I have also been the clay. I enjoyed writing this essay because I clearly understood the objective. Although I received an A plus, my essay was not perfect. I did not correctly define anticipatory socialization. There are specific areas in this essay that I did not clearly express my ideas in the way I wanted to. I misunderstood certain objectives in the particular section of the book that this essay focused on which hurt my essay. I must go back and revise my entire essay but for the most part I was very pleased with my over all performance on this essay.
