Diversity Workshop

The Diversity Workshop is a workshop about being aware of the diversity around you. It gave everyone the chance to show their cultural backgrounds, religion, social status, and their beliefs. At the workshop, they give everyone a chance to discuss what they like and dislike about certain groups and organizations. Most of the time is spent calling out categories of personal background. If they call out a category you are a part of, you stand up and everyone claps for you. It teaches everyone how to be proud of who they are. You will leave this workshop feeling so good about yourself!

I really enjoyed the diversity workshop. It made me realize how many different types of people I interact with everyday. I got the chance to show everyone who I am and what I believe in. I learned a lot about myself and my peers. It felt so good to cheer everyone on. I got the chance to meet new people and feel comfortable sharing personal things with complete strangers. I really had a fun time interacting with everyone. I would defiantly recommend everyone to go and be a part of this workshop. I left that day feeling so good about myself!

Plagiarism Workshop

Tri-County offers a plagiarism workshop to teach students how to correctly cite all types of works that may be used in writing. They run through the seven sins of plagiarism, each a different type of plagiarism. The cost of plagiarism is expressed very clearly. They give examples of plagiarism. Then they give you the chance to paraphrase and summarize. Their purpose is to inform students of all types of plagiarism and to teach how to avoid it at all costs.

This workshop taught me a lot about how to avoid plagiarism. I now know how to correctly cite my essays. Before going to this workshop, I did not know that paraphrasing was a type of plagiarism. I thought plagiarism was just copying someone else's exact words and claiming them as your own, but it is a lot more than that. I used to plagiarize without even knowing it! If I did not attend this plagiarism workshop I could have plagiarized without even knowing it and gotten myself into a lot of trouble. I am so thankful for the chance to learn about something so important that has helped me a lot with all of my college courses.
