Help Us Support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Light The Night Walk is an annual event to raise funds for cures. It’s the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of patients and their families.
• Every five minutes, someone in this country is
diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10
 minutes, someone dies.
• Leukemia is the leading cause of cancer death
among children and young adults under the age
 of 20.
• Lymphomas are the most common blood
cancers and incidence increases with age.
                                                           • The myeloma survival rate is only 34 percent.
Incidence is nearly double for African-
Americans as for all other races.

There are more than 823,000 people in the US and Canada who are living with blood cancer.

WHAT: Light The Night is an evening walk to celebrate and commemorate the lives of people touched by cancer. Walkers hold illuminated balloons – white for survivors, red for supporters, gold in memory of a life lost – and light the night with hope. The Walk culminates in a community celebration with music, refreshments and entertainment – where friends, family members, neighbors, co-workers and others come together to demonstrate their support for cancer patients.
WHEN: October 3, 2008 at 5:30pm for registration and activities. The walk begins at 7:30pm.
WHERE: Forsyth Park.
WHO: Anyone who wants to fight cancer is welcomed to join. No particular level of fitness is required.
