Sarah D. Wire

My name is Sarah Wire. I am a junior journalism major at the University of Missouri-Columbia who is interested in covering politics and city news.

Much of my work has focused on crime reporting, but the work I have done covering political events in Jefferson City, Mo has been some of the most gratifying reporting that I have done. I enjoy reporting on how legislative issues affect the community and want to eventually focus my reporting on that area.

My experience with writing crime has helped me develop necessary skills for writing breaking news stories. This has forced me to hone my ability to quickly determine news-worth and know my sources well.

I am currently working for Missouri Digital News, the state capitol reporting bureau for the Columbia Missourian. Missouri Digital News is a fully converged newsroom, which houses not only the Columbia Missourian but also KMOX Radio Station out of St. Louis, KSMU Radio Station out of Springfield and Missouri Public Television. Student reporters are encouraged to explore all mediums and several of my radio stories have been played on KMOX.

Please feel free to browse my e-portfolio,
