  Great American Smokeout Walk

Rachel Hancock and Tracy Barnett

The Great American Smokeout is an annual event that falls on the third Thursday of November.  This event is just one day out of 365 days that a smoker puts down their cigarettes for 24 hours.  It was in 1977 when the American Cancer Society  began sponsoring this event. This year the Smokeout took place on November 20. As Cardiovascular Interventional students we know that cigarettes contain many harmful chemicals and are to blame for thousands of deaths each year, therefore we decided to hold a walk in honor of Great American Smokeout.  This walk was held at Forsyth Park Savannah, Ga at 6pm.
