ENG Composition 1113 is designed to give students a solid foundation for writing assignments they will face in their educational trek.  Writing is the one element in your education that is required across all disciplines.  If you grasp the challenges of this course, you will have a much easier journey on your way to reaching your goal.  Without good writing skills, most students experience unnecessary hardships in almost all of their classes. 

     It's my goal to guide you to become effective communicators through writing.  It is well substantiated that good writers are also readers.  So, a good part of what you do here entails reading some great literary works that compliment this course.

     One thing students should realize is that writing is not an event but a process.  Much research has been completed which testifies to the fact that anyone who is willing to learn, can learn to write.  The catch phrase for this course is "It's as simple as X, 1, 2, 3."  As you venture into writing, you will quickly realize that writing is not some gruesome oversized antique door that sqeeeeeks and sqeeels as you open it.  Actually, as you work into the writing process, the stress you may have experience at some point when writing often fades into a hazy mist and is soon replaced by a new confidence in yourself a s a writer.  Like anything in life, when you know how, it's easy.

     Since anyone who wants to learn to write can, it is only a matter of learning the parts of the whole in order to assemble an entire essay.  Students who have learned to write through this course, are not intimidated and really enjoy the process of writing.  You can too.
