Professional Practice occurs when teacher put their professional knowledge into use in the classroom.  I have chosen to include lesson plans for Shared and Guided Reading, two components of a Balanced Literacy program.  Research in recent years have shown that students are more successful in reading when they are able to become active participants in the reading process, when reading strategies are properly demonstrated for them, and when they are exposed to various styles of learning.  A Balanced Literacy program promotes all of these things.
