Intermediate Sight Singing Assessment Levels 1 and 2 Level 3 Sight-reading Assessment FFMHS 6th-12th grade students at this level will begin to teach themselves sight-reading exercises as well as their assigned part in selected repertoire. Steady Beat	1 Student is NOT ABLE to sing the selected exercise with a steady beat at this time. There are 9 or more steady beat mistakes.	2 Student SOMETIMES sings with a steady beat. There are no more than5-8 steady beat mistakes.	3 Student MOSTLY sings with a steady beat. There are no more than 1-4 hesitations or pauses in the beat.	4 Student ALWAYS sings with a steady beat. The song is smooth and there are no hesitations or pauses in the beat.
Rhythm	1 Student is NOT ABLE to sing rhythms accurately in the selected sight reading exercise at this time. There are 9 or more rhythmic mistakes.	2 Student SOMETIMES sings the rhythms accurately in the selected sight reading exercise. There are no more than 5-8 rhythmic mistakes.	3 Student MOSTLY sings the rhythms accurately in the selected sight reading exercise. There are no more than 1-4 rhythmic mistakes.	4 Student ALWAYS sings the rhythms accurately in the selected sight reading exercise. There are no rhythmic mistakes.
Pitch recognition	1 Student is NOT ABLE to sing the correct pitches at this time and is unable to demonstrate understanding of the solfege syllables at this time. There are 9 or more pitch mistakes.	2 Student SOMETIMES sings the correct pitches using the correct solfege syllables do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti and high do. There are 5-8 pitch mistakes and the mistakes DO take away from the overall performance.	3 Student MOSTLY sings the correct pitches using the correct solfege syllables do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti and high do. There are no more than 1-4 pitch mistakes and the mistakes do NOT take away from the overall performance.	4 Student ALWAYS sings the correct pitches using the correct solfege syllables do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti and high do. There are no pitch mistakes.
