Cover	Poor Cover of brochure includes only the title of the book.	Fair Cover of brochure includes title of book and student's name.	Good Cover of brochure includes title of book, student's name, picture that describes the book, and a star rating.
Characters	Poor Section in brochure lists some of the characters names.	Fair Section in brochure lists main characters names.	Good Section in brochure lists main characters name and gives one sentence describing their importance in the book.
Setting	Poor Setting is described in just a few sentences. There is no explanation of multiple settings.	Fair Setting is described using only text. If there is multiple settings in the book the student has only described 1 of them.	Good Setting is described using illustrations and text. If there is multiple settings then the main 2-3 settings are the ones that are described in detail.
Plot Summary	Poor The brief summary of the book is only 5 or less sentences.	Fair A brief summer of the book is described in less than 10 sentences.	Good A brief summary of the book is described from the student's point of view in over 15 sentences. Opinions are acceptable, but do not let them interfere with the true story line.
Response	Poor Students response is less than 5 sentences and does not speak of opinion or recommendation.	Fair Student responds to book without including recommendation. Less than 10 sentences.	Good Student responds to the book and includes their opinion. Student also explains if they would recommend the book or not. 10 sentences or more.
Organization and Structure	Poor Lacking structure in paragraphs and sentences. No transitions in sentences.	Fair Structure may be present but order and writing are unclear.	Good Sentences and paragraphs are clear and well structured.
Conventions	Poor Three or more convention errors.	Fair One to two convention errors.	Good There are no errors.
