Playing Tests
	Unsatisfactory - 1 10 pts	Needs Improv. - 2 13 pts	Satisfactory - 3 15 pts	Good - 4 18 pts	Excellent - 5 20 pts
Tone	Unsatisfactory - 1 Tone is not well supported and airy. Notes are not clearly produced.	Needs Improv. - 2 Tone is not well supported, but notes are all audible.	Satisfactory - 3 Tone is fairly supported with moments of breathiness.	Good - 4 Tone is consistantly supported.	Excellent - 5 Tone is well supported and clear on all notes.
Notes	Unsatisfactory - 1 Majority of fingerings are not known, and the student cannot change between notes.	Needs Improv. - 2 Fingerings are sometimes correct, but student cannot change between notes without hesitation.	Satisfactory - 3 Fingerings are mostly correct, but changes between notes are mostly muddy.	Good - 4 All fingerings are correct but changes are not all clean.	Excellent - 5 All fingerings are correct, and changes between fingerings are clean.
Rhythm	Unsatisfactory - 1 Majority of the rhythms are not known.	Needs Improv. - 2 Rhythms are sometimes correct, but there is hesitation.	Satisfactory - 3 Rhythms are mostly correct with few variations.	Good - 4 Rhythms are generally correct with some discrepancy is releases and/or rest length.	Excellent - 5 All rhythms are performed correctly.
Articulation	Unsatisfactory - 1 Student does not use tongue to articulate notes and air support is not maintained.	Needs Improv. - 2 Student uses tongue to articulate notes, but air support is not maintained.	Satisfactory - 3 Student uses tongue to articulate notes, but the attacks are muddy and the air support is inconsistent.	Good - 4 Student maintains steady air support and uses the tongue to articulate each note, but the attacks are inconsistent.	Excellent - 5 Student creates a clean break in the sound using the tongue while maintaining steady air support. Beginning of notes (the attack) are consistent and uniform.
Posture/Positioning	Unsatisfactory - 1 Student is slouched and/or rests his/her instrument or arms on his/her lap. Feet are not flat on the floor.	Needs Improv. - 2 Student is slouched. Feet are flat on the floor sometimes.	Satisfactory - 3 Student begins sitting up straight but slouches as he/she plays. Feet are flat on the floor the majority of the time with some variation.	Good - 4 Student is a little slouched as he/she plays. Feet are flat on the floor the majority of the time, with few variations.	Excellent - 5 Student sits up straight through the entire exercise/piece. Feet are flat on the floor.
