CPR Assessment AHA 2005 Guidelines Students will access a victim to see what type of first aid or CPR is needed. Rubric Code: X6XW67 By tkohlman Draft Public Rubric Subject: Health Type: Assessment Grade Levels: 9-12

CPR Assessment (2005)
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts
Gloves (PPE)	Poor Rescuer does not put on gloves.	Fair Rescuer has to be prompted to put on gloves.	Good Rescuer puts on gloves without prompting.
Position of patient	Poor Don't tell patient to lay on his/her back or do not put patient on his/her back.	Fair Rescuer has to be prompted to put patient on back.	Good Rescuer puts patient on back with no prompting.
Checks responsiveness.	Poor Doesn't check responsiveness or does inappropriately. Rescuer should only tap victim & shout. (Ask if if victim is ok.)	Fair Needs prompting to check for responsiveness or does not check for responsiveness correctly.	Good Checks for responsiveness without prompting & correctly.
Open Airway	Poor Student forgets to open airway.	Fair Needs prompting to open airway or opens it improperely. Need to use the head/tilt & chin/lift method.	Good Opens airway without prompting & uses proper technique.
Check Breathing	Poor Forgets to check for breathing.	Fair Needs prompting to check for breathing or does it incorrectly. Example: Looking towards the head instead of the chest. Checks for less than 5 seconds or more than 10 seconds.	Good Checks for breathing without prompting. Does it correctly with look, listen, & feel.Checks for no less than 5 seconds, but no more that 10 seconds.
Circulation	Poor Does not check pulse.	Fair Needs prompting to check for pulse or does it in the wrong location. Takes pulse for less than 5 seconds or more than 10 seconds.	Good Checks pulse without prompting. Checks for at least 5 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
