Independent Reading	Exceeds Standards - Student reads ALL the time during Independent Reading. - Student respects those reading around them ALL the time. - Students shows independence in finding a "just right" book.	Meets Standards - Students reads MOST of the time. - Student finds a "just right" book with teacher's help.	Approaches Standards - Student reads SOME of the time. - Student does not have a "just right" book.	Does Not Meet Standards - Student talks during reading, distracts others. - Student shows NO effort in finding a "just right" book.
Reading Responses	Exceeds Standards - Student writes in-depth post-its and reading responses. - Student writes 3 post-its or 1 response during a 30 minute reading time. - Student keeps these post-its and responses organized.	Meets Standards - Student writes in-depth post-its and reading responses. - Student only writes post-its and responses MOST of the time. - Student keeps these post-its and responses organized.	Approaches Standards - Student writes retelling or low level post-its as well as SOME higher level post-its - Student writes post-its and responses SOME of the time.	Does Not Meet Standards - Student is writing low-level post-its SOME of the time.
Reading Log	Exceeds Standards - Student logs EVERY day. - Log is neat. - Student completes ALL parts of the log.	Meets Standards - Student logs EVERY day. - Log is neat - Student completes MOST of the parts.	Approaches Standards - Student logs EVERY day. - Log has cross-outs and is messy. - Student completes SOME of the parts.	Does Not Meet Standards - Student logs inconsistently.
Reading Notebook	Exceeds Standards - Student keeps reading reponses neat. - There are responses, notes, post-it's and reviews for EVERY book and EVERY day.	Meets Standards - Student keeps reading responses neat. - There are responses, notes, post-it's and reviews for MOST books and MOST days.	Approaches Standards - Student keeps reading responses neat. - There are responses, notes, post-it's and reviews for SOME books and SOME days.	Does Not Meet Standards - Response are not neat and inconsistent.
