Makes logical predictions	Poor Student does not make feasable predictions relating to the text, or makes no predictions.	Fair Student makes simple predictions but needs more work.	Good Student makes logical predictions and discusses reasoning.
Student uses text for support	Poor Student uses text incorrectly or uses no text to support predictions.	Fair Student starts using text to support predictions but could use more practice choosing selections that specifically support their thoughts.	Good Student uses appropriate text selections to support their predictions.
Demonstrates understanding of text	Poor Student shows little or no understanding of text through developing predictions and/or using textual evidence.	Fair Student shows some understanding of the text with their predictions and choice of text support.	Good Student shows they fully understand the text through higher level predictions and applicable textual evidence.
