Write/Perform a Rap Song Poetry/Song Recitation The students will write a rap based on a topic of their choosing. Their rap will include the common elements of rap songs as determined in class. 	Superior 4 pts	Excellent 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
Voice	Superior Speaks clearly and distinctly all the time. Can be heard easily by all in audience.	Excellent Speaks clearly and distinctly most of the time. Can be heard easily at least 90%of the time.	Fair Speaks clearly some of the time. Can be heard at least 80% of the time.	Poor Mumbles often or cannot be understood Voice is too soft to be heard by all.
Inflection and Pacing	Superior Uses inflection and pacing effectively to enhance meaning and/or for dramatic impact.	Excellent Uses inflection and pacing satisfactorily to enhance meaning and/or for dramatic impact most of the time.	Fair Uses inflection and pacing sporadically (some of the time).	Poor Does not use inflection and pacing.
Pronunciation	Superior Pronounces all words correctly, like a native speaker	Excellent Makes one pronunciation error.	Fair Makes two pronunciation errors.	Poor Makes three or more pronunciation errors.
Lyrics	Superior The lyrics are meaningful, flow with the melody/rhythm and connecto to the overall topic.	Excellent Lyrics are meaningful and connect to the topic.	Fair Lyrics are starting to give some details related to the topic.	Poor Lyrics clash with the melody/rhythm and have little relationship to the topic.
Tempo and Dynamics	Superior The tempo, rhythm and dynamics complete the overall song and experience.	Excellent Tempo and rhythm are consistent. The dynamics flow, but could be used more fluently.	Fair Tempo and rhythm are coming together but detract from the message.	Poor The song is choppy with an unnatural mix of tempo. It has no change in dynamics.
