Eight lines complete	Poor The student answered some questions and wrote less than 4 lines, or the student did not follow directions and wrote a paragraph about themselves.	Fair The student answered most questions and wrote 4-5 lines.	Good The student answered all questions but wrote less than 6-8 lines.	Excellent The student followed directions, answered all questions, and wrote 8 lines.
Words spelled correctly	Poor Many of the words were spelled incorrectly.	Fair Some words were spelled correctly.	Good Most words were spelled correctly.	Excellent All words were spelled correctly.
Neat	Poor Biopoem is too difficult to read.	Fair Biopoem is sloppy.	Good Biopoem is written but not in order.	Excellent Biopoem is neatly written and easy to understand.
Illustrations Represent Poem	Poor Biopoem has no color and no illustrations.	Fair Biopoem has few color and few or no illustrations.	Good Biopoem has some color and illustrations have some detail.	Excellent Biopoem illustrations are colorful and represent the written ideas.
