Illustrations, Text and Making Connections Story Predictions and Making Connections This rubric will assess students ability to effectively identify and name character, setting, mood, and plot by using the illustrations of the text. The students will also make connections between the illustrations and the text, while listening/reading a story. Identify character, setting, mood	Poor Student shows little to no ability to identify character, setting, and/or mood from the illustrations of a text.	Fair Student provides some ability to identify character, setting, and/or mood from the illustrations of a text.	Good Student demonstrates reasonable ability to identify character, setting, and/or mood from the illustrations of a text.
Uses illustrations for support	Poor Student does not use illustrations to support understanding of the plot.	Fair Student starts using some illustrations to support understanding of the plot but more detail is needed..	Good Student uses illustrations to support understanding of the plot.
Making Connections	Poor Student experiences difficulty making effective connections between the illustrations and the text.	Fair Student extends understanding by making a few simple connections between the illustrations and the text.	Good Student extends understanding by making connections between the illustrations and the text.
