Accuracy	Poor No recognizable scale is present.	Fair Many notes are incorrect - student seems unfamiliar with the scale.	Good Shows a good feel for the notes, but there are repeated mistakes in pitch. Intonation has not developed appropriately.	Excellent Mostly correct with a few errors. There may be small intonation problems.	Superior Pitches are correct and intonation has a characteristic quality sound in all registers.
Tone Quality	Poor Sound is totally lacking in quality due to a poorly formed or weak embouchure/grip and/or no breath support.	Fair Limited projection - tone is poor or range is limited due to the need for a stronger embouchure and/or breath support.	Good Fair use of projection and fullness of tone. There may be room for improvement in posture, embouchure & breath support.	Excellent Considerable use of projection and fullness of tone but still somewhat short of a mature sound.	Superior Tone is full and well projected. A truly characteristic sound for the instrument.

Excellent Student performs most of the material accurately. Preparation is decent.	Superior Student performs all scales with control and fluidity. Excellent preparation is evident throughout.
