Narrative/Script Quality	LEVEL ONE Narrative is either not written in first person at all or sounds very little like a real person is speaking the words.	LEVEL TWO Narrative is either not written entirely in first person or it sounds awkward, with little conversational flow.	LEVEL THREE Entire narrative is in first person, is well written, and sounds conversational most of the time.	LEVEL FOUR Entire narrative is in first person, is very well written, and has a convincing<BR> conversational flow from start to finish.
POINT OF VIEW	LEVEL ONE Student is in character only briefly and sporadically, making the letter ineffective and unbelievable.	LEVEL TWO Student attempts to stay in character, but drops in and out often, making the letter less effective and believable.	LEVEL THREE Student stays in character and communicates effectively and believably most of the time.	LEVEL FOUR Student stays in character and communicates effectively and believably the entire time.
Text Reference	LEVEL ONE letter does not include events from the story and the character's reaction to the events is not present.	LEVEL TWO letter contains one text reference. The character reaction to each event is not well thought out.	LEVEL THREE letter contains two text references The character's reaction to each event is less thorough than it could be.	LEVEL FOUR letter contains three text references. The character's reaction to each event is very thorough.
