Organization	Unacceptable There is no sequence of information, extremely unorganized thought process.	Inadequate Thought process of student jumps around, but can be slightly followed.	Proficient Student presents information in a sort of logical sequence which reader can follow.	Outstanding Student presents information in a smooth, logical, interesting sequence which readers can follow.
Subject Knowledge	Unacceptable Student does not have grasp of the structure of DNA or how it functions, does not answer question.	Inadequate Student is uncomfortable with information and only answered part of the question.	Proficient Student demonstrates knowledge of DNA structure and function but does not explain thoroughly.	Outstanding Student demonstrates full knowledge (more than required) by answering all aspects of the question with explanations and elaboration.
Grammar	Unacceptable Student has no understanding of grammar.	Inadequate Student's misuse of grammar makes answer difficult to comprehend.	Proficient Student's grammar is par but needs proofreading.	Outstanding Student's grammar is flawless and aids in understanding of DNA processes.
Creativity	Unacceptable Student copied the text word for word.	Inadequate Student uses quotes but doesn't explain them.	Proficient Student uses quotes and explains them.	Outstanding Student explains entire answer in an original way using his or her own words.
Length	Unacceptable Student wrote less than one sentence.	Inadequate Student wrote at least one or two sentences.	Proficient Student uses enough sentences to explain answer but fails to fill up an entire page.	Outstanding Student wrote an entire page explaining the entire answer thoroughly.
