Punctuation	Strong The punctuation is accurate, even adds to the meaning of the content.	Effective Punctuation accurate.	Developing Punctuation is random, and the basic rules are shown.	Emerging Punctuation awareness is not evident.
Grammar and usage	Strong Grammar and usage are alway correct. An adjective or suffix is used on every page.	Effective Grammar and usage is good. A suffix or adjective is used on most pages.	Developing Problems with grammar and usage are not serious enough to distort the meaning. Suffixes and Adjectives are not used throughtout.	Emerging Errors in grammar and usage are very noticable.

Illustrations	Strong Illustrations are meaningful and apply to text.	Effective Illustrations are meaningful, but do not necessaruly follow text.	Developing Illustrations are apparent, but they are not relelvant to the story.	Emerging There are few or no illustrations.
