Students did not make their own corrections on their rough draft but their peer corrections were included. The final draft was better than the rough draft. The paragraph was a little unclear and there were a few spelling, capitalization, and puncuation errors.

There were very few corrections on the rough draft. The final draft was about the same as the rough draft. The paper was not clear and there were several spelling, capitalization, and puncuation errors.

Supporting Details

Excellent

Paragraph begin topic sentence that includes the topic and the main idea format. All supporting sentences include text evidence that support the main idea, and end with a concluding sentence that ties the paragraph up.
Average

Paragraph has an underdeveloped topic sentence with sentences that show some evidence of supporting the topic. Concluding sentence doesn't really finalize the paragraph.
Needs Improvement

Paragraphs have no apparent topic, or may have a topic, but not a main idea. Sentences lack supporting evidence, and do not end with concluding sentences.
Little or No Evidence

There are random sentences that are seemingly unconnected and do not support the topic.
Conventions

Excellent

Sentences are capitalized and have correct punctuation. Proper nouns are capitalized, commas are used correctly, and grammar is appropriate for the level of paper.
Average

Most sentences begin with capital letters and end with correct punctuation. Some use of commas within the paper are demonstrated correctly and most proper nouns are correctly capitalized.
Needs Improvement

Sentences do not start with capital letters, there is no clear beginning or end to sentences, and very little punctuation is demonstrated properly.
Little or No Evidence

Essay resembles one giant paragraph or sentence with no punctuation, capital letters, or grammatical accuracy.
