Word of the Day/Grammar/Spelling Sentences Write sentences as per directions of classroom teacher. Sentences will be assessed on writer's responsibility, sentence fluency, and conventions. Rubric Code: F2324B By fml1026 Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: English Type: Homework Grade Levels: 6-8

Spelling Sentences
	Poor 1 pts	Satisfactory 2 pts	Very Good 3 pts	Excellent 4 pts
Sentence Fluency	Poor Student has a very limited or no understanding of sentences.	Satisfactory Student demonstrates a clear understanding between a sentence and fragment. No risks have been taken. All sentences are simple.	Very Good Student demonstrates a clear understanding between a sentence and fragment. Risks have been with one or two sentences.	Excellent Student demonstrates a clear understanding between a sentence and fragment. Risks have been taken with all sentences.
Writer's Responsibility	Poor Student has not used capitalization and punctuation correctly most of the time having five or more errors, and/or there are five or more errors with high frequency words.	Satisfactory Student has used capitalization and punctuation correctly some of the time having three or four errors, and/or there are three or four errors with high frequency words.	Very Good Student has used capitalization and punctuation correctly most of the time having one or two errors, and there are one or two errors with high frequency words.	Excellent Student has used capitalization and punctuation correctly all the time, and there are no errors with high frequency words.
Conventions	Poor Student has no understanding of syntax. The spelling word is not used correctly (part of speech) most of the time and/or most homophones are not used correctly; there may be five or more errors.	Satisfactory Student demonstrates some understanding of syntax. The spelling word is used correctly (part of speech) some of the time and/or some homophones are used correctly; there may be three or four errors.	Very Good Student demonstrates a clear understanding of syntax. The spelling word is used correctly (part of speech) most of the time and/or most homophones are used correctly; there may be one or two errors.	Excellent Student demonstrates a clear understanding of syntax. The spelling word is used correctly (part of speech), and all homophones are used correctly.
