Organization/Topic Sentences	Poor Shows little or no attempt to put into paragraphs and makes no sense as to where this essay is going.	Fair Has topic sentences that are unclear, and paragraphs indicate some organization	Good Clear topic sentences and organized paragraphs into a coherent essay.
Transitions	Poor Has one transition somewhere in this essay	Fair Has some direction with a few transitions	Good Uses transitions throughout the essay to guide the reader to each new point
Examples for support	Poor Has one or two examples for support to back up one of the topics	Fair Has half of the paper in supports for the topics	Good Has supports for all topics
Overall Content	Poor Student does not understand the assignment completely. Attempts to answer the essay prompt with some relevant.	Fair Student understands the prompt but does gives some incorrect or missing information.	Good Student understands the essay assignment and responds appropriately with correct information.
