Writing Mechanics	Poor Contains no evidence of words spelled correctly. Capitalization is a very problematic issue. Punctuation needs quite a lot of work.	Fair Contains little evidence of words spelled correctly. Some capitalization and punctuation difficulties do exist.	Good Contains some evidence of words spelled correctly. Problems related to punctuation and capitalization are not greatly disrupting the flow of this text.	Excellent Almost all words are spelled correctly. There are no problems related to punctuation and capitalization.
Grammar	Poor Poor use of grammar. Meaning is often unclear. Many errors.	Fair Adequate use of grammar. Meaning is sometimes unclear. Some errors are still present.	Good Good use of grammar. Meaning is mostly clearly conveyed. A few errors are still present. The student may show some word order or noun verb agreement issues.	Excellent Excellent use of grammar. Meaning is very clear. Very few errors present.
Task Completion	Poor The task was not completed. There's evidence of an attempt to describe the gadget. Or it looks like the student was not clear on what he or she was asked to do.	Fair Task was somewhat completed. The gadget was describe with with little or no detail. Minimum of lines was not met.	Good Task was completed well. The gadget was described with some detail. Minimum of lines was met, but some of the requirements were missing.	Excellent Task was completed very well. The gadget was described in great detail and typical uses were mentioned. Minimum of lines was met.
Vocabulary	Poor Student used very little adjectives to describe their gadget. Verbs were not used to describe the uses or they were not adequate.	Fair Student used few adjectives, described the gadget very simply. The uses were only referred to with single verbs.	Good Student used some adjectives that properly described the gadget, some others that didn't describe it properly. Some verbs were not adequate to describe the uses.	Excellent Student used lots of adjectives that properly described the gadget. Student used adequate verbs to talk about the uses.
