Dance: Step routine performance by a group 
7th grade Physical Education skills assessment in dance. Students are rated and scored the mechanics and elements included in their performance. Students are scored at 12 possible points. Scoring in the advanced range gains extra credit.

Makes one directional change in the formation. Front to back, or side to side.

Changes two directional formation patterns. Front to back and side to side.
Advanced

Uses more than 7 movements together for their dance.

Makes more than two directional changes from the starting formation.
Creates patterns such as a box,circle or square.
Space & Transitioning

Needs Improvement

Stays in same position on the floor. Lacks any use of space given.

Lacks fluid combination of steps being linked together.
Very choppy.
Developing

Moves too far away from one another.

Looks like several individuals rather than one fluid group.

Moving but not balanced in the space.
Proficient

Moves well in the space given.

Moves as one group, complimenting each other in motion.
Balanced, centered in the space and equal distance to each other.
Advanced

Polished, everyone uses space well with several position changes.

Quick recovery if someone misses a step.

Group works well with several transitioning steps linking advanced movements.
