Character interpretation is extended beyond explanation through detailed elaboration. A conclusion is made and explained sufficiently to connect character to plot.

Interpretation is extended through brief elaboration and connected to plot, but the explanation is unclear and difficult to understand.
Fair

Interpretation is not extended beyond the explanation and support. A logical connection is made between character and plot, however, the explanation is brief and insufficient in order for the reader to fully understand the connection.
Poor

Interpretation is not extended beyond the explanation and support. No connection is made to plot, or connection does not follow logically from character interpretation.
