The student has an understanding of the reading, however, no examples from the text are used in their writing.
Good
The student has a thorough understanding of the reading, however, only uses one example from the reading in their writing.
Execllent
The author shows a full understanding of the reading why such a reading is beneficial to their career growth as a teacher. The author uses multiple examples from the reading in their writing.
Relates Context to Experiences
Poor
The student provides not contextual evidence of relating the article to former, current and future teaching experiences. The writing is unrelated to the article.
Fair
The student provides one weak example of relating the context of the article to their profession. It is unclear as to why this reading is useful to their career.
Good
The student provides one strong example of relatedness to their profession. The student clearly relates the context of the article in their writing.
Execllent
The student thoroughly relates the reading to their own experiences or how they will utilize the reading into their own practices. Several strong examples are given.
Spelling and Grammar
Poor
There are multiple mistakes of spelling and grammar throughout the writing. The writing is not fluent. The level of writing is not up to grade level standard.
Fair
There are several errors in spelling and grammar. Paragraphs relate to one another, however, the writing is not up to grade level standard.
Good
There are a couple of spelling or grammatical errors in the writing. The writing is fluent and is at grade level.
Execllent
Reflective journal entry is free of any spelling and grammar mistakes. The author writes fluently, and the expressed ideas are clearly written. This is above standard grade level.
