Position	Advanced Consistently uses correct finger, wrist, hand, posture, and arm positions.	Proficient A few minor problems with finger, wrist, hand, posture, and arm positioning.	Basic Often uses incorrect posture, finger, wrist, hand, arm positions.	Minimal Little understanding of correct posture, finger, wrist, hand, or arm positions.
Accuracy	Advanced Consistently correct pulse and rhythms.	Proficient Infrequent errors in pulse and rhythms.	Basic A lack of a consistently correct pulse and rhythm. Student may rush or slow technically difficult passages.	Minimal Many examples of inaccurate pulse and rhythms. Technical passages are weak. May be abrupt stops.
Proficiency	Advanced Student has learned entire piece fully. Keeps eyes on the music at all times (unless memorized).	Proficient Student has learned partial piece. Keeps eyes on music more than half the time (unless memorized).	Basic Student has learned little of the piece. Keeps eyes on music half the time (unless memorized).	Minimal Student has not learned the piece. Does not keep eyes on music (unless memorized).
Note Reading	Advanced Student performs music with no missed notes and uses correct finger for each key.	Proficient Students misses 1 or 2 notes during performance with little to no errors in using the correct finger for each key.	Basic Students misses 3 or 4 notes during performance. Needs improvement in note reading skills.	Minimal Students misses 5 or more notes during performance and does not use correct fingers for the keys.
