Content	Need Work The response was vague. There were no examples from the book.	Almost Got It The prompt is answered by the student but with no example from the book. Or the student may have also been vague in his/her answer. There were no examples from the book.	Good The prompt is responded to fully. Details are shared to make the reader understand the ideas the student is trying to get across.	Advanced The prompt is responded to fully by students giving an example from their personal life, and connecting to the story. Details are shared to make the reader understand the ideas the student is trying to get across. The reader has no doubt how the student feels about the book.
Format	Need Work The journal entry is not in paragraph format. Ideas are random. There are only 1 or 2 sentences,<BR> if any.	Almost Got It The journal entry is an indented paragraph that is less than five sentences. Ideas are somewhat organized.	Good The journal entry is an indented paragraph (or multiple paragraphs) that is at least five sentences. Ideas are organized in a way that is easy to follow and understand.	Advanced The journal entry is an indented paragraph (or multiple paragraphs) that is way more than 5 sentences. Ideas are organized in a way that is easy to follow and understand.
Spelling/Grammar	Need Work The student made a poor attempt at correct spelling and grammar. More than 5 mistakes exist.
