Story Elements Found on handout	Excellent Student has included all elements of a story (characters, setting, plot, conflict, resolution, etc.).	Good Student has left out one or two elements of a story.	Fair Student has left out three or four elements of a story.	Poor Student has left out five or more elements of a story.
Story Construction	Excellent Story is put together in a logical order, using transitions where appropriate.	Good Story is put together in a logical order, but no transition words are used.	Fair Story is somewhat confusing and seems to have lots of filler material.	Poor Story is not put together in a logical order, and it is difficult for the reader to follow the plot.
Grammar/Spelling/Punctuation	Excellent Story is free of errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.	Good Story has one to three errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.	Fair Story has four to six errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.	Poor Story has more than six errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
