Analysis	Needs Work The student was able to reference things brought up in class or sight evidence, but did not provide clear relation of evidence to who the mother is.	Good The student shows more advanced steps of analysis. Not only do they identify who they think the mother of the Monster is, they also link this to textual evidence.	Excellent A student will write on their who they believe is the mother of the monster and also relate this to textual evidence. They may acknowledge other answers but state why they are not as strong of a choice. The student may also relate the question to the author.
Vocabulary	Needs Work Student is able to identify key vocabulary, used from the instructional YouTube video, within their writing, by quoting specific words or phrases, yet don't embellish on the meaning.	Good Student identifies key vocabulary and will also explain the meaning of said vocabulary, showing how they were able to dissect the vocabulary used in the video.	Excellent Students do all of the steps for a "good grade" but show the command of the vocab by implementing it into their argument. This means they identify the definition, according to the instructional YouTube video, and then relate the vocabulary to their answer.
Grammar	Needs Work Students show use of grammar skills taught in class, yet there are still common mistakes.	Good Here, the student shows their learning and application by having few to none mistakes.	Excellent Student utilizes grammar taught that week in class, and has few to no mistakes. Within this, they are able to point out the grammar skills used by Shelley to add depth to certain points. Not only do they apply their grammar skills but they also use them to analyze.
