Exceeds Expectations Able to identify the claim within the item stem and they add their own idea of whether they agree or disagree with the teachers claim.
Evidence	Emerging Student cannot make sense of the evidence.	Approaching expectations Student just uses the evidence given with out trying to solve on their own.	Meets expectations Develop a method to prove or disprove the claim.	Exceeds Expectations Uses the information from the table in another manner.
Justification	Emerging Student explanation is unclear and they are not able to prove or disprove the claim.	Approaching expectations Student explanation is unclear but they are able to prove or disprove the claim.	Meets expectations Student applies some understanding of how the evidence and claim are interrelated and able to prove or disprove the claim.	Exceeds Expectations Student applies a clear understanding how the evidence and claim are interrelated. Also able to prove or disprove the claim.
Effort	Emerging Work is not completed in a satisfactory manner. Student shows minimal effort. Student does not use class time effectively.	Approaching expectations Work is complete but it lacks finishing touches or can be improved with a little effort. Student does just enough to meet requirements.	Meets expectations Completed work in an average manner. Student does enough to meet requirements.	Exceeds Expectations Completed work in an above average manner. Student does more to meet requirements.
