Diction	Growing The words of the song are challenging to understand or not memorized. Vowels are closed more than fifty percent of the time.	Fair Fifty percent of the vowels are clear. Some words are difficult to understand, or there are memorization errors.	Good Almost all of the words and vowels are clear and open. There is good space in the mouth to allow for resonance.	Exceptional All of the words are clear and the vowels are clear and open.
Intonation	Growing It is difficult to follow the melody because it is severely out of tune, or the melody of the song was not memorized.	Fair There are many mistakes in notes or pitch accuracy. The melody can still be heard but about fifty percent of the notes are out of tune.	Good Most of the notes are in tune, and it is easy to follow the melody. Perhaps only one or two errors in pitch.	Exceptional The performance was perfectly in tune with no errors in pitch or notes.
Posture	Growing The posture of the performer is distracting to the performance. The back may not be straight, or weight is not equally balanced. The performer looks uncomfortable	Fair While mistakes in posture is not distracting, it is noticeable. The performer may be excessively fidgeting or have two or three errors in posture.	Good The performer looks comfortable while performing, but there may be one error in posture such as slouching, fidgeting, or unequal balance of the feet.	Exceptional The posture of the performer is perfect and the performer looks comfortable.
Performance	Growing The performer does not follow musical directions or bring any interpretation to the piece. The performer has poor breath support.	Fair The performer sings what is on the page but does not add anything musical to the song. The performer exhibits decent breath support.	Good The performer sings the piece correctly with a good dynamic range and some phrasing, but perhaps does not make the song their own.They exhibit good breath support.	Exceptional The performer brings themselves into the song through interpretation, dynamics, phrasing. The performer also exhibits good breath support.
