Animal Presentation (Bird or Mammal) Animal Presentation (Bird or Mammal) Students will selecting an animal (bird or mammal) and research the unique characteristics about this animal. Students will writing about their animal, and design a presentation to aid them when sharing the traits of their animal. The presentation should tell about where their animal lives, what their animal eats, what their animal looks like, what special adaptations allow the animal to survive in it's native habitat, and why they choose the animal. Students should be prepared to answer questions about their animal from their peers. Preparedness	Beginning Student does not seem prepared and probably did not practice.	Developing Student seems mostly prepared but needed a bit more practice.	Secure Student is prepared for the report and has obviously practiced.
What The Animal Looks Like	Beginning Description of animal is inaccurate or does not give any important details. No picture of animal, or picture was very small.	Developing Gives a description of animal but leaves out a couple of important features. Picture is present but not labeled.	Secure Gives an accurate description of how the animal looks, and has a detailed picture with important parts labeled.
About The Animal's Needs	Beginning Does not list any items that the animal eats.	Developing Lists one item that the animal eats.	Secure Lists two or more items that the animal eats, and includes pictures on the poster.
Where The Animal Lives	Beginning Gives little or no details about where the animal is found and includes very few facts about the animal's habitat.	Developing Gives some details about where the animal is found in the world,but only includes some facts about the animals habitat.	Secure Gives details about where in the world the animal is found, and tells many facts about it's habitat.
Animal Adaptation	Beginning No adaptation is given.	Developing Student has given one adaptation about their animal.	Secure Student has given multiple examples of adaptations possessed by their animal.
Animal Presentation	Beginning No pictures, or pictures are too small to see, many of the important facts are not included on the presentation.	Developing Pictures are okay, somewhat clearly labeled, and most of the important facts are included on the presentation.	Secure Pictures are large enough to see clearly and are labeled, it has a visible title, and all the important facts are included on the presentation.
Reasons For Chosing The Animal	Beginning No reason is given.	Developing Student has given very few details explaining why he/she chose their animal.	Secure Student has given lots of details explaining why he/she chose their animal.
Listens to Other Presentations	Beginning Sometimes is not listening and is being disruptive.	Developing Sometimes is not listening, but is not being disruptive.	Secure Listens intently. Does not make distracting noises or movements.
