Student uses most personal safety equipment but is missing safety glasses or is not wearing appropriate welding/cutting gloves, jacket, or cutting goggles/faceshield.
Good

Student wears correctly all required safety equipment for this exercise.
Torch Set-Up
Poor

Student does not check cutting equipment to insure hoses/ torches and torch valves are in correct positions. Students incorrectly open valves on cylinders or incorrectly sets pressures on operating gauges. Student does not light torch correctly or cannot properly adjust to a nuetral flame.
Fair

Student checks cutting equipment but misses a step or adjusts valves/gauges incorrectly. Student lights torch correctly but cannot adjust to a neutral flame.
Good

Student correctly checks equipment and insures valves and gauges are adjusted properly. Student lights torch and adjusts for neutral flame properly.
Torch Shut-Down
Poor

Student incorrectly shuts down cutting equipment out of sequence or leaves a valve open.
Fair

Student shuts down equipment in correct sequence but fails to clear fuel/oxygen lines of all gas.
Good

Student correctly shuts down valves and clears all gauges and hoses of gas pressure. Equipment is then properly stored in shop.
