Information is generally there but may be missing some key, important points. Understanding is there but limited. Some factual evidence is used.

Information is thorough and evidence is clear and concise. Student clearly shows understanding of historical facts and uses them to address the questions.
Understanding/Interpreting Facts

Student does not use facts to express understanding of concept. Information doesn't make sense. There is no connection or support for their point of view.
Below Basic
It is unclear whether or not the student understands the topic or subject. Evidence is clearly copied from book and no insight is given.
Basic
Student gets the general idea of topic. Information is partially in their own words or uses some sentences directly from text. Understanding is mostly demonstrated.
Advanced
Clearly, student understands the main ideas and concepts. Explanation is well thought out and is mostly in own words. Understanding is well demonstrated.
Organization/Grammar
Far Below Basic
Assignment is not well organized, difficult to read, has numerous grammatical errors. Appears to be thrown together at the last minute. Assignment is incomplete.
Below Basic
Assignment is readable but has some grammatical errors and may have incomplete paragraphs.
Basic
Assignment has some structure with some mistakes. Mistakes may take away from main points or understandings but general information is there. Assignment is generally complete.
Advanced
Assignment is well organized and concise. It also has main points well laid out and answers are in own words. Assignment is totally completed.
