Child Development Observation/Case Study Child Development Observation/Case Study Students will observe a child using the tool of an anecdotal record including the area physical, cognitive, language, emotional and social development of the child. Child's information/age	Unsatisfactory Child chosen is not the assigned age and missing more than two items.	Satisfactory Child chosen is the assigned age,missing one or two items.	Exemplary Child chosen is the assigned age, Pseudonym or initials are included, date of birth, observation date, and setting.
Length of observation	Unsatisfactory Observation contains two developmental domains and/or details are brief.	Satisfactory Observation contains three developmental domains and/or details are complete.	Exemplary Observation is the required length(need to complete 5 different developments/domains: physical, cognitive, language, emotional, and social development) and details are extensive.
Observation presentation	Unsatisfactory Observation is submitted with a lack of neatness and clarity.	Satisfactory Observation is presented neatly and professionally( some mix of format).	Exemplary Observation is typed in a neat and professional manner(using correct format and form for anecdotal record).
Completion of components	Unsatisfactory One or more components are missing(Handwritten notes, observation form or typed reflection).	Satisfactory All components of the observation are included and not organized.	Exemplary All components of the observation are included (Hand written notes, observation form and typed reflection) and organized based on scope of assignment.
Observational notes	Unsatisfactory No observations notes are attached(none included).	Satisfactory Observational notes are attached(some notes).	Exemplary Observational notes are attached(original notes).
Concluding reflections	Unsatisfactory Reflections are less than required and lack detail not all questions answered minimal examples of a theorist.	Satisfactory Reflections are detailed all questions are answered. Two or more examples of theorists are included.	Exemplary Reflections are required length and include details of child and observational experience from notes more than two examples of a theorist are included.
Use of APA	Unsatisfactory APA style citation used with more than three errors. No reference page.	Satisfactory APA style citation is used with 3 errors. Paper has examples of in text citation and reference page.	Exemplary APA citation is clearly used with in text citation and reference page.
