The candidate demonstrates very good demeanor, standing tall and mostly still, making good turns and moving with some authority
Developing
The candidate demonstrates adequate demeanor, could stand taller, make sharper turns and move with more authority
Beginning
The candidate demonstrates little demeanor, needs work on standing tall, making sharp turns and moving with authority
Conducting
Exemplary
The candidate demonstrates conducting with sharp moves that can be followed easily by all members of the band block
Proficient
The candidate demonstrates conducting with good moves and can be followed by most members of the band block
Developing
The candidate demonstrates conducting with some precision, may be misinterpreted by the band block
Beginning
The candidate demonstrates little precision in conducting, must improve this for the band block
Responsibility
Exemplary
The candidate has demonstrated perfect performance and rehearsal attendance as a performer, would do the same as drum major
Proficient
The candidate has missed only 1 or 2 performances or rehearsals at NHS, with advanced notice; is likely to attend all performances as drum major
Developing
The candidate has missed 3 to 5 performances or rehearsals at NHS, needs to prove reliability as drum major
Beginning
The candidate has missed more than 5 performances or rehearsals at NHS, MUST prove reliability to be selected drum major
