Y8 Introduction Letter Rubric Write a letter introducing yourself to the group. Include - About me Poem, Answers to Growth Mindset Questions, Subject teachers and an inspirational quote. Genre Message	Not Yet The writer has missed out a few of the prompts. The reflections need to be in greater detail.	Fair The writer has covered some of the prompts but has omitted others. More explanation needs to be done in some areas.	Good The letter follows the guidelines fully. Some explanation has been done more completely than others. Reflection has taken places in a thorough manner.	Excellent The Letter shows careful and detailed answers to all of the prompts. Attention to detail has been made and the answers are well explained. There is a nice personal touch which gives the reader an insight into the writer.
Vocabulary	Not Yet The writer has used basic vocabulary to express themselves. The writer could have used the input videos to note down vocabulary	Fair The writer uses a functional vocabulary but doesn't extend themselves much to include a wider range from the source materials	Good The writer has shown a nice degree of application by using sophisticated vocabulary to explain themselves.	Excellent The writer has used advanced vocabulary from the sites - brainy quote and the TED talks on Growth Mindset.
Sentence Structure	Not Yet The sentence structure is largely absent. Careless errors of comma, sentence start stop and punctuation need fixing.	Fair The sentences tend to be of one type and need joining with connectives to show logical progression.	Good The sentences flow well and are largely correctly punctuated with some variety for effect.	Excellent The sentences are well planned with a variety planned for effect and reinforcing the message. Connectives have been used to join ideas well.
Poem Creativity and Originality	Not Yet The poem is a collection of lines just following the instructions. Little effort has been made to adapt it.	Fair The poem shows one or two poetic techniques like = verse style or simple listing.	Good The poem contains one or two more dramatic techniques like - word choice, rhyming, imagery, humour or enjambment.	Excellent The poem is very creative and contains 3 or more poetic techniques to add to the creativity.
