Few grammatical mistakes. Mistakes can easily be fixed.
Good

Nearly no grammatical mistakes. Prose are smooth and the writing flows and is easy to understand.
Sufficient Quotes/Textual Examples

Poor

Little to no quotes or textual evidence are present. Student makes literary judgments that seem to come out of thin air.
Fair

Sufficient quotes and textual evidence, but could use more. Most claims are made with evidence but a couple still need the evidence.
Good

All quotes are necessary and present in the writing. The student is able to support all claims and shows a clear understanding of the poem.
Use of SWIMTAG Present

Poor

Student uses little to non of the SWIMTAG literary devices to analyze the poem.
Fair

Student uses some literary devices to analyze the poem, but does not use all of them.
Good

Student uses all SWIMTAG literary devices to understand and analyze the poem. Student is well versed in SWIMTAG and shows a clear understanding of the poem.
