Text Summary
	Minimally Explained 1 pts	Fairly Explained 2 pts	Thoroughly Explained 3 pts
Cohesion	Minimally Explained The student's summary has little to no unity in it. Student's summary is repetitive.	Fairly Explained The student's summary contains a semblance of unity in it. Summary's major points are arranged and introduced in sequential order.	Thoroughly Explained The student's summary contains a thorough arrangement of ideas. The ideas in the summary are organized and contain no trace of repetition.
Idea Development	Minimally Explained The student's summary fails to answer the five W's.	Fairly Explained This student's summary answers some of the five W's. Summary describes major points and does not divulge unnecessary detail. Summary uses some evidence from the text.	Thoroughly Explained Summary answers all of the five W's as well. Summary does not tell the whole story rather it summarizes the major points. Summary contains evidence used in the text.
