DANCE PERFORMANCE RUBRIC DANCE/DRAMA PERFORMANCE TERM 2 SPORTS CRNIVALS This rubric will be used by students to peer assess other students in class choreography. In order to fully assess they must look for the criteria listed in the rubric. This rubric will also be used by the instructor to assess knowledge of choreography. Knowledge of choreography	Excellent Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the choreography of drama/dance<BR> and does it well.	Target Demonstrates good knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. Few errors, however it does not interfere with performance.	Passing Demonstrates knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. Occasionally hesitates and watches others makes several errors.	Elementary Remembers a few of the steps/ movements and tries, but looks lost and out of sync with others.
Performance Skills	Excellent The dancer creates a believable character on stage and is able to engage the audience completely through their performance.	Target The dancer communicates with other dancers and audience through eye contact and facial and body expression. Is able to engage the audience.	Passing The dancer communicates with other dancers and audience through eye contact and facial and body expression.	Elementary The dancer is not very focused, concentrated or committed to performance.
Rhythm/Tempo	Excellent Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythm throughout the dance.	Target Accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences throughout the dance.	Passing Generally accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences most of the time.	Elementary Attempts to keep a rhythm, but gets off beat and speeds up or falls behind often. Doesn't follow beat in music.
