Notation Skills/Neatness Enter description	NI Student has written incorrect notation according to the time signature. Student work is impossible to read due to sloppiness of handwriting.	C Student has written with correct notation for some of the time. The assignment is neat in some places, but most of it is difficult to read and notes are not easily distinguished.	B Student has written with correct notation for a majority of the time. The assignment is readable for the most part, but some parts are hard to distinguish.	A Student has written with correct notation according to time signature. Student has also completed the assignment neatly making it easy to read and distinguish notes.
Originality/Creativity Enter description	NI Student has not created an original melody or the original melody has no differing rhythms/note choices.	C Student has created an original melody that is somewhat creative, but needs more time and thought to obtain more creative note choices and rhythms.	B Student has created an original melody that is mostly creative, but could go one step farther in terms of creative note choice and rhythm.	A Student has created an original melody that contains obvious demonstrations of their creativity.
Following Assignment Guidelines Enter description	NI Student has not written the melody in Concert Bb Major. The time signature and clef change throughout the piece.	C Student has written some of the melody in Concert Bb Major. The time signature and/clef changes for half the melody.	B Student has written in the key of Concert Bb Major. The time signature and/or clef changes a small part of the melody.	A Student has written a melody in the key of Concert Bb Major. The time signature and clef chosen at the beginning remains throughout the entire melody.
Characteristics of Melody Present	NI Student's melody does not repeat. The melody is not memorable/singable/playable.	C Student's melody repeats a small section, and is difficult to remember and play/sing.	B Student's melody repeats most of the eight bars. The melody is singable/playable/memorable for the most part.	A Student's melody is repetitive and is memorable/singable/playable.
