Cover	Needs Improvement Cover of brochure includes only the title of the book.	Acceptable Cover of brochure includes title of book and student's name.	Outstanding Cover of brochure includes title of book, student's name, and picture that describes the book.
Characters	Needs Improvement Section in brochure lists a character's names.	Acceptable Section in brochure lists main characters' names, illustrates the characters, lists a few character traits.	Outstanding Section in brochure lists main characters name, illustrates the characters, describe each character's traits, and gives one sentence describing their importance in the book.
Setting	Needs Improvement Setting is described in just a few sentences.	Acceptable Setting is described using only text. If there is multiple settings in the book the student has only described 1 of them.	Outstanding Setting is described using illustrations and text. If there is multiple settings then the main 2-3 settings are the ones that are described in detail.
Plot Summary	Needs Improvement Student either illustrates the beginning, middle, and end. OR the student writes a 1-2 sentences about the beginning, middle, and end.	Acceptable Students illustrate the beginning, middle, and end. They also write a sentence or two describing the events in each section.	Outstanding Students illustrate in detail the beginning, middle, and end. They also write several sentences about each part of the story only including the MOST important parts of the story.
Response	Needs Improvement Student response is less than 3 sentences and does not speak of opinion or recommendation.	Acceptable Student responds to book including recommendation. Less than 3-4 sentences.	Outstanding Student responds to the book and includes their opinion. Student also explains if they would recommend the book or not. 5 sentences or more.
Conventions	Needs Improvement 12 or more convention errors.	Acceptable 6 or more convention errors.	Outstanding 3 or more convention errors.
