	Excellent 5 pts	Good 3 pts	Satisfactory 1 pts	Poor 0 pts
Identification of Notes	Excellent Student Reads notes on a staff with no assistance.	Good Student reads notes on a staff with little assistance.	Satisfactory Student occasionally reads notes on a staff.	Poor Student is unable to read notes on a staff.
Identification of Note Durations	Excellent Student reads note durations on a staff with no assistance.	Good Student reads note durations on a staff with little assistance.	Satisfactory Student occasionally reads note durations on a staff.	Poor Student is unable to read note durations on a staff.
Performance of Melody	Excellent Students performs composed melody without flaw.	Good Student performs composed melody with 2-3 mistakes.	Satisfactory Student attempts to play notes in melody but misses more than four notes.	Poor Student cannot perform own or other's composition
Student Comprehension	Excellent Student comprehension of how the staff and notes work is very clear.	Good Student comprehension of how the staff and notes work is mostly clear.	Satisfactory Student comprehension of of how the staff and notes work is somewhat clear.	Poor Student does not understand how the staff and notes work.
