Recorder Playing Test 4th Grade

Hand/Finger Placement	1 Hands are in the wrong order. Fingers are not placed where they are supposed to be.	2 Hands are in the right order. Fingers are not in the correct place always.	3 Hands are in the correct placement. Fingers are all correct.
Note Accuracy	1 Many mistakes. The notes played were not close to the written music.	2 Some mistakes, but overall, the notes played were close to the written music.	3 Little to no mistakes. The notes were very close to the written or they were all correct.
Rhythmic Accuracy	1 No steady rhythm. Lots of breaks and pauses. No note was held for its full rhythmic value.	2 Rhythm is somewhat steady but there were a few mistakes. Some notes were not held for their full rhythmic value.	3 Good steady rhythm. There is a definite underlying pulse and each note was held for its full rhythmic value.
Phrasing	1 No phrasing. Each note was played as an individual note, with a "choppy" sound.	2 Some phrasing, but only on partial phrases. Some notes were played clipped or "chopped" from the rest.	3 Good phrasing. Student demonstrates an awareness of the structure and direction of the melody.
