Writing a Realistic Narrative
	Excellent Exceeds standards 4 pts	Good Meets standards 3 pts	Trying Approaching the standard 2 pts	Poor Fails to meet standards 1 pts
Focus	Excellent Fully establishes a situation and characters; clearly shows the established theme of the narrative.	Good Establishes situation and characters; shows the given theme.	Trying Does not fully establish situation and characters; limited connection to given theme	Poor Doesn't establish a situation or characters; theme is not present.
Conflict	Excellent Conflict is clearly depicted in the story and the story is developed around the conflict.	Good Conflict is depicted in the story and the story is somewhat developed around the conflict.	Trying Conflict appears in the story but the story is not developed around the conflict.	Poor Conflict is vague or unclear. The story fails to adequately integrate the conflict.
Resolution	Excellent The story depicts a clear resolution of the conflict.	Good The story depicts a resolution of the conflict, but it is somewhat vague.	Trying The story depicts a resolution of the conflict, but it is unrelated to the story.	Poor The story fails to depict a resolution of the conflict.
