Understands what the symbols mean	Poor Has no idea or has the symbols confused with each other.	Fair Knows the difference in the symbols but does not know how to use them very well.	Good Can pick the correct symbols and use them correctly in a math sentence.
Able to figure out the problem	Poor Has no idea how to figure out which number is larger than the other -- and vice versa.	Fair Is able to 50% of the time to correctly figure out which number is larger than the other-- vice versa.	Good Is able to figure out which number is larger than the other one in the math problems.
Understands key concepts	Poor Can not figure out how to find the answer to the problem and has no understanding of the symbols or their names.	Fair Is able to pick out the correct symbols and know their names but is not able to figure out the problems, or vice versa.	Good Is able to understand how to find the answer to the problem and correctly names and uses the symbols of greater than and less than.
